Why Sondey Advisory Group Was Created

Families facing addiction rarely lack information. What they lack is someone independent, experienced, and calm who can help them decide what to do with it.

After years working directly with individuals and families affected by addiction—including leadership roles within sober living—Allan Sondey founded Sondey Advisory Group to provide something many families struggle to find:

A trusted advisor whose only priority is helping families make thoughtful, informed decisions during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

Allan combines professional experience, lived recovery insight, and a calm, objective approach to help families navigate complex situations with greater confidence.

Rather than replacing your existing professionals, he works alongside them to help your family stay informed, organized, and focused on long-term success.

Professional Experience

Allan has spent years working directly with individuals and families affected by addiction, including leadership roles within sober living. That work meant daily contact with detox and residential programs, PHP and IOP levels of care, therapists, interventionists, physicians, and the housing and accountability structures that support long-term recovery.

It also meant watching families make consequential decisions under enormous pressure, often without anyone in the room whose only job was to look after their interests.

Philosophy

Good decisions come from clarity, not urgency. Our role is to slow the moment down enough for a family to see the whole picture, understand the trade-offs, and choose deliberately.

We do not replace the professionals already involved in your family's care. We help you organize them, understand them, and work with them effectively.

Family First

The family is the client.

Addiction is rarely experienced by one person alone. Parents, partners, siblings, and children all carry part of it—and each of them holds part of the solution.

We work with the family as a whole: aligning expectations, clarifying roles, reducing conflict, and making sure everyone understands the plan and their part in it.

Our Approach

Independent. Objective. Family First.

Sondey Advisory Group is intentionally different.

We are not a treatment center.

We are not therapists.

We are not an intervention company.

We are not recovery coaches.

We serve as your independent strategic advisor and advocate.

Our role is to help families understand the landscape, ask better questions, evaluate available options, and make informed decisions that align with their values and long-term goals.

Our recommendations are guided solely by what is in your family's best interest—not commissions, referral fees, or outside influence.

Who We Help

We work with individuals and families navigating:

Active addiction
Treatment decisions
Early recovery
Relapse
Family conflict
Boundary setting
Long-term recovery planning
Ongoing family support

When appropriate, we also collaborate with attorneys, therapists, treatment providers, employers, unions, and other professionals to improve communication and coordination while keeping your family's goals at the center of every decision.

Ethical Standards

Commitment to Independence

The value of an advisor depends entirely on whose interests they serve.

Independence

We accept no commissions, referral fees, or outside incentives from treatment providers. Our recommendations answer to your family alone.

Discretion

Every conversation is private. Information is shared with other professionals only with your explicit direction.

Honesty

Families receive candid guidance, including when the answer is that no action is needed yet, or when the situation calls for someone else's expertise.

Why Families Choose Us

Why Families Choose Sondey Advisory Group

Families rarely come to us for more information. They come because they need someone who can help them make sense of it—calmly, honestly, and with their long-term wellbeing in mind.

Every situation is different. One family is weighing whether treatment is necessary; another is responding to a relapse; another is trying to rebuild communication and boundaries after years of strain. What they share is the need for a trusted advisor who is fully independent and entirely focused on their family.

That is the role we serve: bringing clarity where there is confusion, stability during uncertainty, and a plan that lets your family move forward with confidence.

My Commitment to Every Family

  • I listen before I advise.
  • I give you honest, objective guidance—never sales pitches.
  • I help you understand every option before you decide.
  • I keep your family's goals at the center of the plan.
  • I protect your privacy and your dignity, always.
